Our Toughest Month Ever!
This has been terrible month for our local Branch of the RSPCA. From within DA postcodes alone, we have had to take in almost 30 animals. Most of these were cats. We are beyond full and are having to pay for many of these cats to wait at veterinary surgeries until we can beg for space for them to start their rehoming journeys.
We are usually the last hope for these animals so we cannot say “No”. To give you an idea just this month we have taken animals from the following situations;
- Seven dogs and cats whose owners have died or gone into care homes.
- A rabbit where the owner has fled domestic violence.
- Three rabbits which the RSPCA Inspector rescued with ammonia damage to their eyes from filthy living conditions.
- Three kittens whose owner could no longer afford to feed them.
- Two young cats under 6 months old where no owners could be found.
- Six stray cats in need of veterinary attention one of which had been attacked by a dog.
Some of these animals are in need of very expensive treatment and rehab. This will cost us well in excess of £4,000 for this month alone. We are a very small team and a separate Charity from the national RSPCA. We have to raise our own funds locally. We will continue to do everything we can to serve our local community and keep animals safe. However, we can’t cope with many months as terrible as this August has been.
If you are able to support our work with a donation we would be very grateful indeed https://www.rspca-kentnorthwest.org.uk/donate/
