We are very sad to report that our Dartford RSPCA Charity Shop in the Orchard Shopping Centre closed it’s doors for the last time this month. We have had an RSPCA Shop in Dartford raising money for local animals for over 20 years but in recent years it has become harder and harder to and our profits have fallen. After leaving our location in Market Street due to sharply rising rents, we moved to the Orchard Centre in March. Despite the monumental efforts of Jayne our Manager, Eric, Norma, Joan and all of the wonderful volunteers, we were unable to get trading onto a sustainable footing and have had to close our doors. It is the end of an era for our Branch and it is indeed a sad occasion. We must remember though that hundreds of thousands of pounds that have been spent by the animal lovers of Dartford and over the years that has saved the lives of so many local animals.
We still have our Shop at 161 Windmill Street and hope that some of our loyal customers will consider visiting us there to donate or shop. The work of the Branch goes on as there are as many animal welfare challenges today as there have always been.
The biggest THANK YOU ever goes to our staff and volunteers down the years who have given so mush time to help animals. You’ve done the Branch proud!
