Emma, our Animal Welfare Officer, started a new collaboration with Dartford Animal Rescue Team, Spirits Rest Sanctuary, New Hope Animal Rescue and Green Cllr Laura Edie called “Dartford Animal Community”  

The first issue on the agenda was the forthcoming firework season with both Diwali and then Guy Fawkes Night a week later. In line with the national RSPCA Kind Sparks Campaign we are promoting the responsible use of fireworks so as to cause minimal disruption and fear to pets and wildlife alike. Dartford Animal Community then held a meeting where they were joined by the local Dartford Lions who hold a very popular annual fireworks events. Discussion took place about changes they may be able to consider for future events with animals in mind.
