We were asked by our friends at Brighton RSPCA to assist in a truly monumental rabbit rescue. Almost a hundred rabbits and guinea pigs had to suddenly be rescued from a domestic setting in Sussex and there was simply not enough room to fit them in. Thanks to some fast work and careful coordination by our brilliant rabbit fosterer Judith, we were able to take eight rabbit sisters and then a further 6 rabbit brothers. It made for a very tight squeeze but we were determined to throw them a lifeline. This meant fourteen extra mouths to feed plus neuters and vaccinations to pay for. The rabbits were all absolutely adorable. On the last day of October we managed to rehome the last of the sisters who we called The Brighton Belles. The boys will be up for rehoming as soon as they are neutered and will make wonderful family pets.
We also gave some of our long stay rabbits a bit of a push on social media with some rather fetching Halloween themed photos. We have homed over 50 rabbit this year which is an amazing achievement considering we do not have our own animal centre.
